Single Object renderings
Students will choose a single object (a chair, a torso, a face,
a building, an animal, a tool, a plant etc.) and photograph the
object from various perspectives. Photographs will be scanned
and drawn as vectors in Illustrator. These outline drawings will
be duplicated and serve as the raw material on which to practice
the various techniques learned in Illustrator during the course
of the term. A minimum of 10 different techniques is expected.
Students will present this collection/series in the form of a
small handmade book constructed during the regularly scheduled
final exam.
Requirements
for participation
You must
be self-motivated to succeed. Class assignments and projects are
cumulative, and those of you who are unable to set your own pace
may have trouble participating and producing work. Please ask
questions. I am here to help you as you develop ideas, interests
and skills.
Attendance
Regular and prompt attendance is essential to
keep up with the work load. It is disruptive to the class when
people show up late – Please be on time. This course is
fast paced and therefore virtually impossible to make up any extended
absence. A total of three unexcused absences will cause you to
fail the class.
