Cory Miller, a native of Marshalltown, Iowa, is the Chargers' defensive backs and special teams' coach. He came to Briar Cliff following one season at Illinois College, where he held the same position.
Miller also oversaw Illinois' special teams units and all travel arrangements. His defensive backfield led the conference in interceptions and was ranked in the top 10 nationally in that department. Prior to that, Miller was the defensive backs coach and special teams' coordinator at MacMurray College in 2010. In one season, he helped to drastically improve the Highlanders' defense.
Miller began his coaching career at Northern Iowa, while he was earning his undergraduate degree. He served as a student assistant coach there, helping out with the team's running backs. In 2006, he became a graduate assistant at Southwest Minnesota State University and was promoted to defensive line coach after one season. He remained at Southwest Minnesota State until 2008, when he became the defensive backs coach and recruiting coordinator at Rockford College. While there, he also served as the team's academic coordinator and managed the college's intramural program. He earned his master's degree from Rockford in 2010, but not before serving as the college's men's tennis coach for one year.
