Benefits of Enrolling in the R.N. to B.S.N. Option

Briar Cliff University continues its commitment to delivering high quality, flexible baccalaureate nursing education. Our program is fully accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission and has a proven track record of providing excellent accessible and affordable nursing education to nurses in Western Iowa.

Briar Cliff's RN to BSN Program Features:
  • A state-of-the-art-nursing curriculum that recognizes what you know and doesn't repeat what you have already studied.
  • The nursing curriculum includes five core courses with six one-credit hour independent research courses. The five core courses focus on content that builds upon your previous nursing education and experience. These courses include content important to working with families experiencing complex health problems, community health issues, research, leadership, and a development of a theoretical basis for your nursing practice. The six one-credit independent research courses address such topics as health assessment; women's health; pain management; stress management; parish nursing; and health and alternative medicine.

  • Flexible acceptance of transfer credits from other colleges.

Briar Cliff College automatically accepts 28 to 32 credits of nursing from the student's basic nursing program.  Students are required to take at least their last 30 credit hours from Briar Cliff.  These 30 credits include 22 credits of nursing.

  • Financial aid for nurses who are working and cannot attend classes full time.

Over 70% of the students enrolled in the RN-BSN program receive financial aid. Financial aid may include scholarships, grants or loans. Additionally, Iowa residents attending Briar Cliff University may be eligible for the Iowa Tuition Grant. Eligible students can receive up to $4,000 per year! To qualify, students must complete a financial aid application and must take at least four credits per term. For more information contact the Briar Cliff Financial Aid Office at 1-800-662-3303.

  • Face to face instruction with highly qualified clinically current faculty members.

The faculty at Briar Cliff University believe that facilitating your learning is their most important responsibility. We are committed to providing the highest quality teaching available. The nursing faculty share this commitment and come with extensive teaching and current nursing experience.
