Association (BCUNSA)
All
nursing
students join the
National Student Nurses
Association, the
undergraduate nursing student professional
organization at Briar
Cliff University. This
organization sponsors a
number of activities
each year including: Christmas
Party, Christmas Tree
Decorating, BCU Health
Fair, Spring Blood Drive,
and others.
Sigma Theta Tau
Sigma Theta Tau
International was
founded in 1922 by six
nursing students at
Indiana University.
Since that time it has
grown to over 400
chapters world-wide,
with over 275,000
members in more than 90
countries.
In 1986, the Briar Cliff
University Department of
Nursing charted Theta
Gamma Chapter, the 193rd
Chapter of Sigma Theta
Tau International. The
vision of Sigma Theta
Tau International is to
create a global
community of nurses who
lead in the use of
scholarship, knowledge,
and technology to
improve the health of
the world's people.
In 2008, Theta Gamma
became a
chapter-at-large with
Morningside College.
Theta Gamma Activities
Local meetings are held
during the year to
encourage nurses to show
their scholarship and
research with
colleagues. Theta Gamma
chapter sends
representatives to
regional and national
conferences of STTI.
