  • Submit the formal application to the Office of Admissions.

  • Include a $25.00 nonrefundable application fee with the application (fee waived for Briar Cliff Alumni).

  • Checks payable to Briar Cliff University.

  • Forward an official transcript from all prior undergraduate and graduate studies documenting a baccalaureate degree in nursing from a CCNE or NLNAC accredited program with an upper division major in nursing including the following courses:            
                 Physical Assessment
                 Nursing Research
                 Ethics
                 Statistics

  • Submit evidence of licensure as an RN in Iowa or a state participating in the licensure compact.

  • Submit copy of current CPR certification.

  • Submit employment verification showing evidence of a minimum of 2000 hours of nursing practice as a registered nurse within the two years prior to enrollment in the first nursing specialty course. Employment needs to be verified by the employer.

  • Submit copy of DD.214. (Veterans and all active duty military people only.)

  • Complete FAFSA Form (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to qualify for available financial aid.

  • Prepare and submit an essay. Demonstrate logical thinking and writing skills in the preparation of a two to three page personal/professional development statement. This document must detail personal and professional values, a nursing philosophy; goals for the next five years with an explanation of why a masters education in nursing is necessary for fulfilling those goals, and a commitment to practice at the ARNP level or as a nurse educator.

  • Submit two letters of recommendation from individuals within the nursing profession.

  • After applicants are admitted, financial aid will be awarded to applicants who have filed the FAFSA.

Incomplete forms and steps may delay or prevent the processing of your application for admission. Complete applications are due April 1.  Update: The application deadline has been extended to June 15.
