Post-Master’s Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate

Post-Master’s Nurse Educator Certificate

Post-Bachelor’s Nurse Educator Certificate

For the post-master’s certificate programs, the following admission requirements will have to be met:

  • An earned master's degree in nursing from an institution of higher learning accredited by either the CLNE or NLNAC with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

  • Evidence of licensure as an RN in Iowa or a state participating in the licensure compact prior to enrollment in the first nursing specialty course.

  • Current BCLS certification

  • Evidence of a minimum of 2000 hours of nursing practice as a registered nurse within the two years prior to enrollment in the first nursing specialty course.

  • Two letters of reference/recommendation from individuals within the profession.

  • Demonstrate logical thinking and writing skills in the preparation of a three-to-five page personal/professional development statement. This document must detail personal and professional values, a nursing philosophy, an understanding of the advanced practice role, and goals for the next five years with an explanation of why a post-master’s certificate is necessary or helpful in fulfilling those goals.

  • Application fee

For the post-bachelor’s certificate program, the following admission requirements will have to be met:

  • An earned bachelor’s degree in nursing from an institution of higher learning accredited by either the AACN or NLNAC with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher .

  • Evidence of licensure as an RN in Iowa or a state participating in the licensure compact prior to enrollment in the first nursing specialty course.

  • Current BCLS certification

  • Evidence of a minimum of 2000 hours of nursing practice as a registered nurse within the two years prior to enrollment in the first nursing specialty course.
