Teaching Expertise: Newswriting I, II, III

My teaching philosophy: IMy goal is to duplicate the actual working environment students face once they graduate. By the time they complete the three newswriting classes, they're able to transition into a job in the media. Even though methods of dissemination have changed drastically over the past decade, the basics remain the same. If students have a good foundation in newsgathering, they should be able to apply the skills to any medium.

Education: Bachelor of arts degree in mass communications and theater (double major), Moorhead State University (now Minnesota State University - Moorhead) in Moorhead, Minn.
Master of arts degree in journalism, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.
