Word: Inserting Footnotes and Endnotes
Updated 2009.09.14
To
insert an endnote:
·
Position the cursor at the point in your
document where you want the superscript for the endnote to appear.
·
Then click on the References tab.
·
Then in the Footnotes group, click on Insert
Endnote.

Word will insert the endnote number as a superscript at
the cursor location. Then it will move the cursor to the bottom of the document
and wait for you to type in your endnote. Note that if you want endnotes on a
separate page, you will need to insert a page break before the first endnote.
To
change the number format of your footnote or endnote numbers
·
Click on the References tab.
·
Then in the Footnotes group, click on the dialog box expander (lower right
corner of the group).
·
The Footnote
and Endnote dialog box will appear.
·
In the Format
area, click on the Number Format
drop-down box and select the number format you want.
