Accounting,
Business Administration, Human Resource Management and Management
Information System Majors:
You can learn business better by actually doing business. As a student
in our department you will consult with the students who are running
their own business in the Small Business Lab.
Individual students
may help a student business because of their particular expertise
and interest in the business. Entire classes could also become involved.
For example, an upper level accounting class could, as a part of the
requirements of the course, set up the accounting system for a firm
and oversee the accounting activities of the enterprise.
Experience
the Real Thing
Got a question? A theory? A new idea? Don't just talk about it. Try
it. Rather than studying financial statements from a book, accounting
students can use actual records from student businesses to learn about
income statements, balance sheets and cash flows. Marketing students
will create marketing plans and advertising campaigns. And human resource
management students will develop policy manuals and write job descriptions.
Learn
First Hand
The Small Business
Lab offers an opportunity for you to run your own business under the
guidance of experienced business faculty. Whether you're pursuing
a degree in Accounting or MIS, Business Administration or HRM, you'll
learn first hand what it takes to succeed.
