Most art courses at
Briar Cliff are held in
North Hall. This
two-story building
houses the painting,
drawing, design, and
pottery studios as well
as the art seminar room
and faculty offices.
Also known as "the art
building," North Hall is
reserved solely for art
classes and is
accessible 24 hours a
day.
Painting
Studio The
painting studio
is located on
the first floor
of North Hall.
Each student in
Studio classes
is given their
own workspace in
the studio that
is theirs for
the term. The
studio offers
students plenty
of freedom and
space for
painting,
drawing and
sculpting and
facilitates
interaction
between the
students.
The
Drawing Studio
is located on
the second floor
of North Hall.
Students in
drawing classes
are each given a
space on a wall
of the studio
for evaluating
and displaying
their drawings.
Drawing horses
are used in
place of desks
and chairs in
the drawing
studio.
The
Pottery Studio
is located on
the ground floor
of North Hall.
It contains a
studio with both
electric and
kick potting
wheels and rooms
for glazing and
firing.
The
Art Seminar Room
is located on
the second floor
of North Hall.
It is used for
Art Reading
Seminar, Senior
Seminar, Media
and Techniques,
and for other
art-related
presentations.
It is equipped
with two slide
projectors and
an overhead
projector and
screen for
viewing works
and class
presentations.
The
Clausen Art
Gallery
is located in
the Stark
Student Center.
It is a working
gallery where
current art
students can
display their
work in a real
gallery setting.
The work of
other area
artists is also
occasionally
featured in the
gallery, which
is open to the
public seven
days a week.
