Cliff News announces new editors

Campus Life Editor

With four of the six editors of The Cliff News staff graduating next week, the campus-wide newspaper has hired four new editors and returned three editors to create the newspaper next year.

With new faces on staff, the paper is also looking at having a face lift. Cliff News is looking at becoming a member of the Associated Press, which will allow the paper to run local, national and international news.

"The possible changes that we are looking into for the upcoming academic school year will hopefully increase our readership and be used as an informational tool for students, faculty and administration," said JoAnn Ammann, junior mass communication major.

New positions have been created to allow more mass communication students to be associated with The Cliff News.

New editors have been appointed to news, campus life, sports and the entertainment and opinion sections of the paper.

Tiffany Bauerly, a sophomore psychology and mass communication major, will be taking the leadership position of managing editor. Her roles will include assigning stories to reporters and overseeing the layout of the paper.

"I am really excited for the upcoming challenges that Cliff News will bring,” Bauerly said. “I feel we will have a great news staff and a great paper.”

Mallory Milburn, sophomore mass communication major will take on the responsibility as assistant editor; her job will include copyediting and layout of the pages.

"It's a privilege to be hired as the assistant editor, I look forward to the opportunity that Cliff News will bring," said Milburn.

Ammann will take the position of news editor. Her position will allow her to report any important news or events that may take place at BCU and layout the page.

"I am excited to take on the new position as a Cliff News editor; it is going to be a great learning experience working with both new and old editors," Ammann said.

Jennifer Bonner, a junior mass communication major, said she looks forward to taking over as the campus life editor next fall. Her position will allow her to spotlight students and faculty on campus.

“I wanted to be the campus life editor because I thought it would be a fun way to gain experience and knowledge that I can use to benefit me in my future career,” said Bonner.

Renee Beiermann, junior new media major, will obtain two editor positions next year. She will be the editor for the sports page and she will also continue to hold the position as the online editor.

“I am looking forward to coming back to Cliff News next year, I am really proud to be associated with such a positive group on campus,” said Beiermann. “But I know I have large shoes to fill!”

Meghan Reed, junior mass communication and business administration major, will take the position of entertainment and opinion editor, her job will allow her to design page layout.

Jeff Miller, sophomore mass communication major, will assume the position of photo editor. His position will allow him to bring the pages to life with photos of different events occurring on campus.

“I am looking forward to working with the new editors,” said Michael Crowley, advisor of the Cliff News and chairperson of the department of mass communication. “I think they will bring fresh ideas and a lot of talent to The Cliff News.”
