The Writing Center
at Briar Cliff
University develops students’
abilities to write
college-appropriate
papers of various kinds,
displaying competence in
grammar, articulation,
structure and cohesion.
Briar Cliff University’s
Writing Center offers
the following services:
one-on-one peer
mentoring, workshops,
and computer-based
tutorials for
undergraduate and
graduate students.
History:
For
more than 20 years, the
Briar Cliff Writing
Center has operated as a
writing lab on campus. Over
the years, the lab has
been directed by Sister Loyola Meuret,
Mark Simpson, Cindy
Nahrwald, Linda Bagshaw,
Phil Hey, Amy
Thompson, and Sean
Herring.
Located in Room 50
on the
ground floor of Heelan
Hall, the Writing Center currently
is directed by Dr. Ryan
Allen, assistant professor of English and Writing.
The foundation built
over the past two
decades has, in part, created today’s learning environment
in the lab, where students
eagerly seek assistance with
their many writing
assignments.
