Briar Cliff has a campus-wide network of computers that offers Office 2007 which includes Access, Excel, Front Page, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word. In addition there are many discipline specific software packages. Each student and employee must have a valid username and password to access the campus computer network. All users must comply with the BCU Computer Use Policy (PDF).

The Briar Cliff University campus-wide network is available in all student resident hall rooms. There is a network port per bed. Students bringing personal computers from home are able to connect to the network after the IT Center has installed anti-virus software and checked for critical operating system updates. Once connected to the campus network, students have access to the Internet, email, and network file shares. Each student and employee is assigned a personal network share. A network share is identified as your “username" on ‘thomas\students’ or “username" on ‘thomas\employees’.

Briar Cliff's network contains virtual LANs with manageable switches and several dedicated T-1 lines for Internet access.
