Spring Choral Concert: "Glory and Honor"

The Briar Cliff music department presents its year-end concert, showcasing the Cliff Singers and BCU Chamber Choir. This year's title is "Glory and Honor." The event is free and open to the public.

Additional distinguished guest choirs include the Western Iowa Tech Community College (WITCC) Concert Choir, under the direction of William Darwin, Jr., BCU alumnus and WITCC director of Choral Activities; and the Abu Bekr Chanters, under the direction of Dr. Sean Burton, division chair of arts and humanities, The Gilchrist Foundation director of choral activities and associate professor of music at Briar Cliff University.

“Glory and Honor” will feature a variety of sacred repertoire, including the Cliff Singers and WITCC’s Concert Choir performing Franz Schubert’s Mass No. 2 in G Major conducted by Dr. Burton; BCU adjunct faculty member Shannon Salyards, soprano soloist; WITCC adjunct faculty member Clint Johnson, tenor soloist; and Mr. Darwin, baritone soloist, all accompanied by the Orchestra Pro Cantores, a chamber orchestra comprised of local professional musicians.

The event will also include world premiere performances of two new choral works by composers Gabriel Alves, a BCU 2011 music alum, and Nathan Meendering, a BCU senior music major.

This Briar Cliff spring choral concert is made possible through funding from The Gilchrist Foundation.
