Raku Firing Workshop
Thursday, April 10
What's "raku"? The art of firing pots! Join the fun on Thursday, April 10, as Dakota Potters from Sioux Falls brings two raku kilns and fires them up outside of North Hall. The fun starts at 10 a.m. and will run until all of the pots are fired.
It's a quick firing process, so you'll be able to get a feel for the process even if you stop by for just a few minutes.
The Art Department is also using this opportunity to raise some money for an international student art trip planned for next year. You can purchase a piece of unglazed pottery made by students or faculty and choose your own glaze. Students will be there to help you glaze the piece and then you can watch it be fired and take it home — still warm.
Pots will range from $15 to $100 with many choices at the lower end.
