Briar Cliff University
has four residence halls
housing around 580
students. Each hall is
staffed by a Residence
Hall Director or
Assistant Residence Hall
Director and
Resident Assistants.
Alverno Hall
houses men and women, a
mix of first-year and
upper-class students.
Each room in Alverno is
home to two resident
students and furnished
with built-in dressers
and two built-in
closets. Beds and desks
are available to
students requesting
them.* Each floor
in Alverno has its own
laundry, kitchenette,
computer lab, and study
lounge. Each of Averno's
four floors is divided
into two wings. One
Resident Assistant (RA)
lives on each wing.
In addition, Alverno
Hall is home to the MAD
(Music Arts and Drama)
House. This is a
community built around
students interested in
the fine arts and
students must request to
be placed there.
Also, Alverno has a
leadership community
which is home to
first-year students who
wish to be engaged in
extracurricular
activities which provide
them with more
opportunities to grow as
individuals and leaders.
Alverno Hall is also one
of two halls on campus
designated as dry.
Baxter-DiGiovanni
Hall houses men
and women in a suite
style dorm.
Housing selection is
done based on a point
system which takes into
account a student's
class standing, GPA,
years lived on campus,
previous years lived in
the hall, and judicial
background. Each
suite in Baxter-DiGiovanni
is home to four resident
students and has two
bedrooms, a living room,
and a bathroom. Each
bedroom contains two
bunkable beds, two
wardrobes, a desk with
chair and dresser. The
living room is furnished
with an additional
built-in closet and
countertop, two desks
with chairs, a couch, a
chair and an end table.
Two Resident Assistants
(RA's) live in Baxter on
second and fourth
floors. Baxter-DiGiovanni
has its own laundry,
kitchenette, lounge and
computer lab. All
furniture in Baxter is
included with the room.
There is no option to
remove it; with the
exception of couches
provided the residents
ask for and receive
permission from their
hall director.
Noonan Hall
is home to men and
women. Most rooms in
Noonan are home to two
resident students. Each
room is furnished with
two closets most of
which are built in. Two
dressers and two desks
are provided in each
room without the option
of being removed, while
beds and desk chairs are
available to students
requesting them.*
Some singles and small
two-room suites are
available to students
who apply.
Selection for these
rooms is done on a point
system. Each two-room
suite consists of two
small single rooms
furnished with a
built-in desk and closet
in each room. A dresser
is provided in each
single without the
option of being removed
while a bed and desk
chair are available upon
request. Each floor has
its own computer lab,
lounge, kitchenette and
laundry. Two Resident
Assistants (RA's) live
on each floor with the
exception of second
floor which has one RA
and is home to an
assistant Hall Director.
Toller Hall
houses first-year men
and women. Each
room in Toller is home
to two resident students
and furnished with
built-in dressers and
two built-in closets.
Two desks are provided
in each room and cannot
be removed while beds
and desk chairs are
available to students
requesting them.*
Each floor in Toller has
its own laundry room and study
lounge. Two Resident
Assistant (RA) lives on
each floor.** Toller
Hall is also one of two
halls on campus
designated as dry.
*Requesting furniture:
During housing sign-up,
returning students will
fill out a furniture
request card to indicate
what furniture they
would like placed in
their room. New students
will fill out a
furniture request card
either via mail or at
summer registration.
The deadline to turn in
your furniture request
card is August 1st.
**First floor only has 1
RA.
Lofts
are available for rental
for the academic year.
The cost is $129.
Lofts are distributed on
a first-come,
first-served basis.
All lofts used by
first-year and
second-year students must
be rented through BCU.
