Activities and
Events
The Penny Drive, open to
all Briar Cliff
students, took place on
campus from Dec. 15,
2008 through Jan. 30,
2009. The Penny Drive
was a fundraiser for the
Salvation Army. BCU’s
four dorms competed for
the most points. The
winning residence hall
received a
free movie night with
their choice of pop or
popcorn at the Riviera
Theater in Sioux City.
The drive raised more
than $200 for the
Salvation Army’s
disaster services,
camps, summer programs,
and clothing or food for
the needy. The project’s
goal was to inspire
students to donate their
time by volunteering and
to get involved in the
Salvation Army. Emerging
Leaders have several
projects planned,
including inviting
prominent business
leaders to campus to
host a "Business
Roundtable" panel and
invite Sioux City leaders
in the music industry to
show how their
leadership plays a role
in career paths.
