BCU Spanish Professor Presents at International Conference
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Carlos Vargas-Salgado, assistant
professor of Spanish at Briar Cliff University, recently
presented at the Fifth Annual International Conference of
Peruvianists, held at Tufts University, Medford, Mass.
In his presentation titled "Dramaturgy of José
María Arguedas: Memory and Theatricality in the Andes,” Dr.
Vargas-Salgado’s describes the importance of
indigenous novelist José María Arguedas to better
understand conservancy of the memory of Indigenous/Andean
cultures throughout popular dramatic texts and performances.
The International Conference of Peruvianists is one
the most important meetings for specialists on Andean
Literatures and Cultures, attended by scholars from Peru,
Korea, Germany, and the U.S.
Briar Cliff University is a
