Briar Cliff Theatre Presents Comedy

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff University’s Department of Theatre announces the production of the comedy “Detestable Madness” with four performances, beginning Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011, through Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011.

Offering humor, puppetry and spectacle, “Detestable Madness,” directed by Briar Cliff adjunct theatre instructor Jenna Soleo-Shanks, is an adaptation of two plays “Callimachus” and Sapientia” by Hrotsvit of Gandersheim, a 10th-century playwright.

“This is the perfect play for Briar Cliff,” said Soleo-Shanks. “It takes universally appealing subjects and presents them with humor and a moral lesson,” she explained.

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m., Oct. 27 – 29, and a matinee at 2 p.m. on Oct. 29. For ticket information, call the Box Office at 279-5542, which is open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., through Oct. 29.
