Briar Cliff University Welcomes New Staff

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff University is pleased to announce the following new staff members who have joined the BCU community.

Julie Davis, Student Support Services Administrative Assistant, holds Associates Degree in Computer Programming from Western Iowa Tech Community College.  Prior to coming to BCU, Davis was administrative assistant for Heidman Law Firm. 

Kyle Grell, assistant manager, Roth Campus Bookstore, holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Briar Cliff University. Previously, he was a work-study student in the campus bookstore.

Kelsey Homan, admissions communications specialist, is a 2011 graduate from Briar Cliff University. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in graphic design and mass communications from BCU.

Sarah Hummelgard, resident area coordinator, holds Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Briar Cliff University. Prior to coming to BCU, she was at Murphy USA and Menards. 

Alisha Knowler, head dance coach, holds a bachelor’s degree in health promotion-wellness management from Grand View University. Previously, she was assistant dance coach at Grand View University.

Sharon Messerschmidt, admissions counselor for Continuing Education, holds a bachelor’s degree in human resource management from Briar Cliff University, where she will pursue a master’s in human resource management in the spring. Prior to BCU, she was director of Information Technology Services at Western Iowa Tech Community College.

Alyssa Langel, graphic design coordinator, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in graphic design from Briar Cliff University. Previously, she was a freelance graphic designer at Briar Cliff and a studio photographer at Studio Sixteen Ten.

Brett McCarville, admissions representative, holds a bachelor’s degree from Briar Cliff University. While at BCU, he majored in human resource management.

David Pope, software specialist, has a Bachelor of Science degree in electronic engineering technology from DeVry University. Previously, he was a database administrator at Gelita North America.

Brandon Rowley, admissions representative, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Dana College. Prior to BCU, he was a sales associate at Pro Advantage Services.

Joe Schmitz, assistant football coach, has a Master of Science degree in Education-Educational Leadership and a Bachelor of Science in physical education from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, where previously he was assistant offensive line coach at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.

Megan Staebell, admissions representative, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology from South Dakota State University.  Previously, she was a mentor coordinator/match support specialist at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Siouxland.

Mark Svagera, assistant men’s basketball coach, holds a master’s degree in teaching from Hastings College and a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Dana College. Prior to Briar Cliff, he was assistant men’s basketball coach at Dickinson State University.

Marshall Tuttle, advisor, Educational Talent Search, holds a bachelor’s degree from Morningside College, where he majored in American history/world history teaching. Prior to coming to BCU he was a student teacher at West Middle School.
