Briar Cliff Mourns Loss of Professor George Frangedakis

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff
University faculty, students and staff are mourning the loss of
George Frangedakis, associate professor of business
administration, who passed away on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at a Sioux City
hospital.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, Feb.
9, 2011, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. vigil service at
Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, 3220 Stone Park Boulevard, Sioux
City. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011,
in the Chapel of Our Lady of Grace on the Briar Cliff campus. A
reception will follow at the Saint Francis Center in the Stark
Student Center on campus. Memorial gifts may be directed to the
George and Beth Frangedakis Endowed Scholarship at Briar Cliff
University.
“We are keeping George’s wife, Beth, and his
family in our prayers at this difficult time,” said BCU
President Beverly A. Wharton. “George was a longtime colleague,
professor, mentor and friend who will be greatly missed.”
Briar Cliff University has counseling support services
available on campus for BCU faculty, students and staff as they
cope with this loss.
For more than 30 years, George taught
economics and finance in Briar Cliff’s Department of Business
Administration, of which he previously was chairperson. In 2006,
he was recognized with the Distinguished Faculty Scholar Award.
Arrangements are pending at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
