Briar Cliff to Host Foster-Adoption Training
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The
Department of Social Work at Briar Cliff University will host an
Iowa Foster and Adoptive Parent Association training program on
Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. in
the Saint Clare Room in the Stark Student Center on campus.
The training will feature
expert child therapist Marty Wallace, who will present “The
World of Attachment, Trauma, and Bonding: Knowledge is the Key.”
Wallace will cover basic information on attachment and trauma
affecting children and offer therapeutic parenting strategies
when moving children from a foster home to an adoptive home.
A licensed mental health
counselor, Wallace specializes in innovative registered play
therapy approaches, art therapy, filial techniques, sand tray
therapy, theraplay techniques and attachment therapy. He is on
the staff at the Creative Living Center in Rock Valley, Iowa.
A founding member of the
Attachment Network of Iowa, Wallace is a member of the
Association for Play Therapy, the Iowa Association for Play
Therapy, the Theraplay Association, and the Association for
Treatment and Training in the Attachment of Children.
