SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Sean Burton, DMA,
assistant professor of music and director of choral activities
at Briar Cliff University, recently had a book review published
in Music Educators Journal, September 2010 edition.
In his article, Dr. Burton reviewed
the book “A Life in Music: David Willcocks and Friends,” a
compilation of conversations between William Owens and renowned
English choral director David Willcocks, among others.
“Not merely a series of nostalgic
anecdotes,” Dr. Burton stated in his review, “this little volume
also explores some of Willcocks’ specific ideas about rehearsal
techniques and interpretive nuances through a life story that
embraces the dual purposes of personal responsibility and
artistic excellence.”
Published quarterly, Music
Educators Journal is an international peer-reviewed
periodical with a circulation exceeding 70,000.
Dr. Burton also is director of music
at Grace United Methodist Church and founding artistic director
of the Siouxland Choral Artists.
