“Chargers of the Caribbean” Theme to
Highlight Briar Cliff Homecoming

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Don’t be surprised if you run across a Jack Sparrow look-alike or see visions of the Black Pearl on the Briar Cliff University campus during Homecoming Week, which includes a “Chargers of the Caribbean” outdoor carnival.

BCU’s Homecoming will feature a treasure trove of student activities on campus, including a treasure hunt on Monday, Sept. 20, an outdoor carnival on Tuesday, Sept. 21, a pirate-themed dinner and game show on Wednesday, Sept. 22, and a senior slide show and ice cream social on Thursday, Sept. 23.

At 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 24, the Lila Frommelt Collegiate Golf Tournament will be held at the Two Rivers Golf Course, Dakota Dunes, S.D. On Friday evening, there will be an alumni reception at 5 p.m. in the Gantz Room and an alumni banquet at 6 p.m. in the Saint Francis Center, both in the Stark Student Center. Also on Friday, the crowning of BCU’s 2010 Homecoming King and Queen will take place during a pre-game pep rally in the Newman Flanagan Center at 8:30 p.m.

Homecoming activities continue on Saturday, Sept. 25, with the Briar Cliff Alumni Association’s Grand Tailgate and Business Department Tailgate, both at 11 a.m., followed by a 1 p.m. Charger football game with Northwestern, both at Memorial Field, Sioux City.

At 3 p.m. on Saturday, the Charger Volleyball Team will host Hastings College in the Newman Flanagan Center on campus. Also on Saturday, there will be an all-alumni gathering at Buffalo Alice’s Restaurant on Historic Fourth Street in Sioux City at 7 p.m. The 2010 Homecoming Dance for BCU students will take place later Saturday evening. On Sunday, Sept. 26, a Homecoming Mass will be held at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Our Lady of Grace on campus.
