Briar Cliff Conducts 24th Annual Pre-All-State Choral Music Camp
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff
University is conducting the 24th Annual
Pre-All-State Choral Music Camp for 270 high school students,
Aug. 1-4, 2010 on the Briar Cliff campus. The intensive
three-day choral music camp prepares students for the 2010 Iowa
All-State Chorus auditions.
Dr. Sean Burton, assistant professor
of music and director of choral activities at Briar Cliff, is
serving as musical director for the Pre-All-State Choral Music
Camp, and Sister Mary Day, OSF, DMA, is camp coordinator.
Assisting with musical instruction at
the camp are Jean Busker and six Briar Cliff alumni: Jake Delfs,
co-director of choral activities at Bishop Heelan Catholic High
School, Sioux City; John Flanery, assistant director of choral
activities, University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg;
Brian Johnson, director of choral activities, Lewis Central High
School, Council Bluffs, Iowa; Jayne Koch, director of music,
First Lutheran Church, Sioux City; Christopher Miller, assistant
director of choral activities, Sioux City West High School; and
Rachael Wragge, co-director of choral activities, Bishop Heelan
Catholic High School.
High schools represented at the camp
are Boyden-Hull, Corning Community, Galva-Holstein,
George-Little Rock, Harlan Community, Hull-Western Christian,
Kingsley-Pierson, Lawton-Bronson, Le Mars Community, Lewis
Central-Council Bluffs, Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto, Marcus-Meridan-Cleghorn,
Remsen St. Mary’s, Rock Valley, Sheldon Community, Sibley-Ocheydan,
Sgt. Bluff-Luton, Sioux Center Community, Sioux City Bishop
Heelan Catholic, Sioux City East, Sioux City North, Sioux City
West, South O’Brien, Spencer Community, Unity Christian, West
Monona, West Sioux-Hawarden and Westwood-Sloan Community.
On Aug. 4, the Briar Cliff Pre-All-State Choral Music Camp will conclude with a concert at 7 p.m. at the Grandview Park Band Shell (Kucinsky Music Pavilion). This free concert is open to the public.
