Registration for BCU Leadership Camp

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Students entering fifth through eighth grades in the 2010-2011 school year are invited to register for Briar Cliff University’s Camp PYLOT (Preparing Young Leaders of Tomorrow), a day camp on the Briar Cliff campus, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., June 14-16.

Sponsored and led by BCU’s Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), the theme for this year’s Camp Pylot is “Flying to New Heights in a Green World.” Campers will participate in workshops to help develop character, leadership, communication, integrity, self-worth, community leadership, ethical decision-making and teamwork.

The three-day camp will include field trips to area businesses, lessons from successful Siouxland leaders, an innovation exercise to create and sell their own healthy popcorn-based snack, an ethics competition and a mock trial exercise, featuring Federal District Court Judge Roberto A. Lange and his law clerks.

“Camp PYLOT gives students a fun and interesting way to learn how to become successful, contributing individuals,” said Marilyn Eastman, assistant professor of business administration and SIFE faculty advisor. “The values the camp offers will help on every level of student development.”

Tuition for the three-day camp is $120, which includes a Camp PYLOT T-shirt, three workshops, prizes, lunches, snacks and field trips. Space is limited; register early. For more information, contact rita.combs@briarcliff.edu or call 279-5573.
