BCU Assists With First Annual Easter Grocery and Clothing Giveaway

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Briar Cliff University teamed up with other Sioux City organizations to serve more than 365 needy Siouxlanders during the First Annual Easter Breakfast, Grocery and Clothing Giveaway, sponsored by Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Sioux City.

Assisting Briar Cliff and Mount Zion with the Easter weekend event were the Midtown Community Center, BCU faculty, students and staff, the Franciscan Sisters at Briar Cliff, Eldon’s Restaurant, the Junior League, Pho Mon Buddhist Temple and Siouxland Dental Health.

“This event was a good example of working together as a community,” said Shauntey James, Ph.D., associate professor of sociology at BCU. “By coming together for a common cause, we provided many people in the community with groceries, a delicious home-style breakfast and good used clothing.”

Enrollment at Briar Cliff University is over 1,100 students from 28 states. Students are educated in the Franciscan tradition of excellence in the liberal arts and career preparation in an environment of care, compassion and openness to all.
