Briar Cliff Music Faculty to Present Concert
SIOUX CITY, Iowa –
Briar Cliff University faculty members will present “Three Wise
Men” at 3:10 p.m., Friday, April 16 in the Meis Recital Hall on
BCU’s campus. This free event is open to the public.
Faculty performers will
be Sean Burton, DMA, assistant professor of music and director
of choral activities, Richard Steinbach, DMA, professor of music
and Robert Gibson, instructor of jazz and director of the BCU
Jazz Ensemble.
The performance will
feature diverse music ranging from French art songs, depicting
the journeys of Don Quixote, to mystical piano solos and
exhilarating solo trumpet works.
“This concert is
intended to be a fun, entertaining music faculty sampler,” said
Dr. Burton. “It reflects the robust performance-driven nature of
our music program for Briar Cliff’s students and faculty alike.”
Dr. Burton holds a
bachelor’s degree from The Hartt School of Music in West
Hartford, Conn., a master’s degree from Boston University and a
doctorate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Dr. Steinbach, who has
performed worldwide as both a soloist and collaborative artist,
holds piano performance degrees from the University of Colorado
at Boulder, the Eastman School of Music at the University of
Rochester in Rochester, N.Y., and a doctorate from The
University of Iowa.
Gibson, who also
teaches at the Sioux City Community Schools, holds a bachelor’s
degree from Morningside College and a master’s degree from The
University of Iowa.
