Briar Cliff Students Create Snow, Ice Sculptures for Winter Fest
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – A
snow and ice sculpture competition will be
one of the many highlights of Briar Cliff University’s
annual Winter Fest celebration, Jan. 11 through Saturday, Jan.
16. In the competition, BCU students will
put their creativity to the test to form snow and ice sculptures
on Heffernan Mall. Judging will take place on Thursday, Jan. 14.
Other Winter Fest
highlights include a weeklong “Where’s Waldo” competition and
“Next Cliff Star,” a takeoff on the reality TV show “America’s
Got Talent,” on Friday, Jan. 15.
Winter will warm
up when the BCU Chargers and the Mount Marty
College Lancers basketball teams face off at home on Wednesday,
Jan. 13. The women play at 6 p.m., while the men play at 8 p.m.
On Saturday, Jan. 16, the Chargers take on the Warriors of
Midland Lutheran College in another home basketball contest. The
women’s game will start at 2 p.m., followed by the men’s contest
at 4 p.m. All games will be played on campus at the Newman
Flanagan Center.
Between games,
alumni and basketball season ticketholders are invited to enjoy
refreshments and appetizers in the Hall of
Champions on the second floor of the Newman Flanagan Center.
During halftime at the men’s game, Briar Cliff’s Athletic Hall
of Fame induction ceremony will take place.
Immediately following the
men’s game, alumni, season ticket holders and the BCU community
are invited to attend a reception and bid in the Briar Cliff
Athletic Association Benefit Silent Auction in the Stark Student
Center. The festivities
come to a close with the “Winter Fest Dance” for students on
Saturday evening.
