BCU Professor Presents Ethical Practice Research at National Conference

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Heather Craig-Oldsen, MSW, associate professor at Briar Cliff University, presented her research paper titled “Ethical Practice in Child Welfare” at the Annual Program Meeting of the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), held recently in San Antonio, Texas.

Craig-Oldsen presented her paper to social work educators, administrators and students from around the United States who were in attendance at the meeting.

“Work with children who have been traumatized by abuse and neglect is complicated by the potential for conflict between regulations and ethical practice,” said Craig-Oldsen, who is chairperson of the BCU’s Department of Social Work and director of the Siouxland Indian Child Welfare Traineeship Project (SICWTP) at Briar Cliff.

Prior to beginning joining Briar Cliff in 2004, she provided 25 years of consultation services to child welfare agencies throughout the United States and in several other countries.

CSWE is a nonprofit national association representing more than 3,000 individual members, as well as graduate and undergraduate programs of professional social work education.
