BCU Music Professor Presents at National Conference
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff University’s
Sean Burton, DMA, assistant professor of music and director of
choral activities, presented a scholarly paper at the National
Conference of the College Music Society on Oct. 23 in
Portland, Ore.
Dr. Burton’s paper, titled "French
Connections: Exploring the Unaccompanied Choral Music of Pierre
Villette," is an outcome of his doctoral research and
subsequently published book, The Unaccompanied Choral Music
of Pierre Villette: A Conductor's Analysis (Edwin
Mellen Press, 2008).
The College Music Society is a consortium of
college, conservatory, university and independent musicians and
scholars interested in all disciplines of music. The Society
promotes music teaching and learning, musical creativity and
expression, research and dialogue, and diversity and
interdisciplinary interaction.
