BCU Theatre Announces Production of “Cymbeline”
SIOUX CITY, IA – Briar Cliff University’s
Department of Theatre announces the production of “Cymbeline” in
four performances, beginning Oct. 22 through Oct. 24 in the
theatre on the Briar Cliff campus.
“Cymbeline is one of
Shakespeare’s late Romances, and one of his least-performed
plays,” said director and production designer Sam Shanks, Ph.D.,
assistant professor of theatre and speech communication at BCU.
“This play tells a fancifully
byzantine tale of parted lovers, thwarted seductions, kidnapped
princes and mysterious potions,” said Dr. Shanks. “It contains
some of Shakespeare’s most evocative poetry, one of his most
complex heroines, one of his most grotesque clowns, a major
battle sequence and a final scene that brims with startling
revelations.”
Performances are at 7:30 p.m.
on Oct. 22, 23, and 24 with a matinee at 2 p.m. on Oct. 24.
Tickets are $6 for adults; $4 for senior citizens and students;
and free admission for BCU students and military. To reserve
tickets, call the Briar Cliff Box Office at 279-5542.
