Briar Cliff University to Perform Fall Choral Concert

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff University (BCU) and Western Iowa Tech Community College (WITCC) will perform a Fall Choral Concert entitled “Untraveled Worlds” at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11 at the First Presbyterian Church, 608 Nebraska Street, Downtown Sioux City.

The event will feature performances by Briar Cliff University Singers and Chamber Choir, under the direction of Dr. Sean Burton, assistant professor of music and director of choral activities at BCU, and the Western Iowa Tech Singers, directed by Jean Busker, choral director and head of performing arts at WITCC.

The choirs will perform separately and together, offering a diverse program of sacred and secular music intended to positively evoke the human spirit. The event will feature joint-performances of Jeffery Ames’ stirring “In Remembrance” and Paul Halley’s invigorating “Untraveled Worlds.”

“This event exemplifies the relationship of collaboration between students and faculty at Briar Cliff and WITCC,” said Dr. Burton. “Our now annual collaboration is significant in that it fosters an overall sense of community engagement and a commitment to fine choral singing throughout Siouxland.” The concert is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be accepted.
