BCU Plans Guided Tour to England and Ireland
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff University
Department of English will host a 10-day tour to England and
Ireland, May 17- 27, 2010.
BCU English professors Tricia
Currans-Sheehan, Ph.D.; Jeanne Emmons, Ph.D.; and Adam Frisch,
Ph.D., will accompany travelers on the excursion, which includes
five nights in London, three nights in Dublin and one night in
North Wales.
“Our travels will include sites
where some of the great writers of English literature lived,”
said Dr. Frisch. “We will visit Charles Dickens’ London,
Shakespeare’s Stratford-Upon-Avon and James Joyce’s Dublin.”
The tour also includes stops at medieval
castles in England and Wales, the Irish gardens of Glendalough,
the Bodleian Library at Oxford University and Anne Hathaway’s
cottage. Also on the tour is Trinity College, which was
established by Queen Elizabeth I in 1592 and boasts alumni
playwright Samuel Beckett and satirist Jonathan Swift.
