Briar Cliff University Enrollment Increases
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff University
reported today that its enrollment exceeds 1,150 for the fall
2009 term, representing a four percent increase in students over
last year.
The University added
approximately 400 new traditional freshmen, transfer and
non-traditional students. In addition, Briar Cliff records show
yet another increase in overall cultural diversity with an 18
percent multicultural student population, which is an historical
record for the University. Briar Cliff’s fall 2009 students come
from a total of 28 states compared to 24 states last year.
“Enrollment at Briar Cliff
University continues to be strong, even in these challenging
times,” said Beverly A. Wharton, president. “The mix of our
student population reflects a changing marketplace as evidenced
by the growth in our adult learners as well as transfer
students,” Wharton said.
“We worked with each individual family as
they faced unprecedented financial challenges this year,” added
Sharisue Wilcoxon, vice president for enrollment management. “We
are happy with the results in total enrollment, diversity and
our mix of student populations.”
Briar Cliff University is a Catholic
institution with an enrollment of more than 1,100 students from
