Briar Cliff University Enrollment Increases

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff University reported today that its enrollment exceeds 1,150 for the fall 2009 term, representing a four percent increase in students over last year.

The University added approximately 400 new traditional freshmen, transfer and non-traditional students. In addition, Briar Cliff records show yet another increase in overall cultural diversity with an 18 percent multicultural student population, which is an historical record for the University. Briar Cliff’s fall 2009 students come from a total of 28 states compared to 24 states last year.

“Enrollment at Briar Cliff University continues to be strong, even in these challenging times,” said Beverly A. Wharton, president. “The mix of our student population reflects a changing marketplace as evidenced by the growth in our adult learners as well as transfer students,” Wharton said.

“We worked with each individual family as they faced unprecedented financial challenges this year,” added Sharisue Wilcoxon, vice president for enrollment management. “We are happy with the results in total enrollment, diversity and our mix of student populations.”
