BCU’s Nursing Department Hosts Research Seminar

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff University’s Department of Nursing will host The Sister Patricia Miller Nursing Research in Action Seminar, Wednesday, April 29, beginning with registration at 5:30 p.m. in the Saint Francis Center on campus. The registration fee is $15, which includes dinner, payable at the door.

Entitled “Research in Action: A Focus on Qualitative Research,” the event is designed for nurses, health care professionals and nursing students interested in nursing research.

Keynote speaker Barbara Condon, Ph.D., RN, CNE, associate professor of nursing at Briar Cliff, will present her research on “The Lived Experience of Feeling Misunderstood.” In addition, Staci Ronfeldt, BSN, RN, a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) student at Briar Cliff will offer her MSN research project “Does Primary Prevention Improve the Vaccination Rate of Adolescents Ages 11-14 in a Primary Care Rural Clinic?”

Among the nearly 20 evidence-based projects that BCU nursing students will have available at the seminar are: “Assessing Risk of Homelessness for the Mentally Ill,” “Technology Dependent Children,” “Decreasing Hospital Acquired Skin Breakdown in Acute Care” and “Oral Health: Prevention of Pneumonia.” The event is open to the public.
