BCU Theatre Presents “Mother Courage and Her Children”

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff University’s Department of Theatre presents “Mother Courage and Her Children,” by Bertolt Brecht with four performances beginning Thursday, April 23 through Sunday, April 26 at the Briar Cliff University Theatre.

“Mother Courage and Her Children” is the story of a woman who survives the horrors of the Thirty Years’ War in Europe during the 17th century. The production, which is directed by Richard Poole, MFA, chairperson, professor of theatre and speech communications, will be the final theatre production for the academic year.

“‘Mother Courage and Her Children’ is a tale of survival in the midst of chaos and war,” said Poole. “It also depicts ways in which the disenfranchised are marginalized by those in power who corrupt religion and government to further their own evil ends.”

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on April 23, April 24, and April 25 with a matinee at 2 p.m. on April 26. Tickets are $6 for adults; $4 for senior citizens and students; and free admission for BCU students and military. To reserve tickets, call the Briar Cliff Box Office at 279-5542.
