Briar Cliff Announces Presidential Scholars
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff University
announces the recipients of the Presidential Scholarship, the
highest scholarship awarded to first-year students by the
University.
The 2009 BCU Presidential Scholars, all of
whom will graduate from high school this spring, are William
Kurtenbach, Columbus Scotus High School, son of William and
Cathy Kurtenbach, Columbus, Neb.; Hana Verhoeven,
Verhoeven Academy, daughter of Daryl and Tammy Verhoeven,
Cottage Grove, Minn.; Molly Tullis, Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto
High School, daughter of Pamela Kunze and Dennis Tullis,
Mapleton, Iowa; and Briana Engebretson, LeMars Community
High School, daughter of Al and Connie Engebretson, LeMars,
Iowa.
“Our Presidential Scholars are exceptional
individuals who bring much to the Briar Cliff campus,” said
Sharisue Wilcoxon, vice president of enrollment management at
BCU. “We are looking forward to having these students join our
Briar Cliff community.”

Presidential Scholarships are full-tuition scholarships and are
renewed annually for up to four years of study as long as the
scholarship recipient maintains a 3.0 GPA.
The scholarships were announced
following a competitive application process and interviews with
University administrators. High school seniors who apply for
BCU’s Presidential Scholarships must have a cumulative GPA of
3.75 or better and an ACT score of 26 or higher. Award criteria
also include church, school and community leadership roles.
