BCU Writing Professor Publishes Article, Performs
at Jazz, Poetry Event
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff
University’s Phil Hey, M.F.A., professor of English, recently
had an article published in Poem, Revised: 54 Poems,
Revisions, Discussions, published by Marion Street Press.
Hey’s article, entitled “Wrestling
with a Villanelle,” deals with the writing of his poem “An
Apology,” which appears in his book How It Seems to Me: New
and Selected Poems, published in 2004 by MWPH Books.
Poem, Revised: 54 Poems, Revisions,
Discussions is a collection of 54 poems,
including their revisions. The collection is sourcebook for
those interested in the poetry writing process.
At 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16, Hey
will be the featured author and musician at “Harvest Jazz &
Poetry Evening” at the Ponca Carnegie Library in Ponca, Neb.
He teaches creative writing,
organizational communication, freshman composition and a
composition seminar at Briar Cliff University.
