SIOUX CITY, Iowa –
Briar Cliff University students will sponsor three Fun Day
sessions for community youth on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 9:30 a.m.,
Oct. 17 at 5:30 p.m. and Oct. 18 at 9:30 a.m. at the Midtown
Family Community Center in Sioux City.
The 90-minute sessions
will include crafts, light cooking, volleyball and dodge ball.
The program is free and open to children ages 8 to 16.
The program is a
service-learning project for Briar Cliff sociology students and
the Criminal Justice Club.
“The program is
wonderful because it focuses on the kids in the community,” said
Shauntey James, Ph.D. associate professor of sociology and
criminal justice. “This project gives BCU students a chance to
give back to the community within the content of
service-learning.”
The Midtown Family
Community Center is located at 14th and Nebraska
Street. For more information about the Fun Day sessions, contact
