BCU’s Condon Publishes Article in Nursing Theory Journal
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff University’s
Barbara Condon, associate professor of nursing, had an
article published in the July issue of Nursing Science
Quarterly, a renowned and highly respected journal of
nursing theory, research and practice.
Condon’s article, entitled Concept
Inventing: A Humanbecoming Perspective on Feeling Misunderstood,
explores the concept “feeling misunderstood” through the
rigorous process of concept inventing. Concept inventing is one
method in nursing research used to uncover the synthetic meaning
of a phenomenon as humanly experienced.
In the article, Condon presents the meaning
of feeling misunderstood by drawing from an in-depth examination
of literature, art and poetry and testimonials. She further
discusses the definition of feeling misunderstood in relation to
nursing theorist Rosemarie Rizzo Parse’s humanbecoming school of
thought.
Condon, a doctoral candidate at South Dakota
State University, continues to explore the lived experience of
feeling misunderstood as she completes her terminal degree in
nursing.
