Briar Cliff Students Collect Food in
Tradition of Service, Caring

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff University first-year students will participate in a community food drive, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., on Sunday, Aug. 23. The donations will benefit Food Bank of Siouxland.

The food drive, an activity of Welcome Week at BCU, consists of 11 teams of students who will collect food donations at approximately 1,500 residences in the neighborhoods of W.19th to W. 38th Streets and Hamilton Blvd. to West Street.

“Briar Cliff University emphasizes a quality education in the Franciscan tradition of service, caring and openness to all,” said Janet May, O.S.F., director of campus ministry. “We are taking time in this Welcome Week to give our incoming first-year students a hands-on introduction to those Franciscan traditions.”

Throughout the year, Briar Cliff partners with approximately 25 local agencies to give BCU students opportunities to participate in service projects with a wide variety of local community service agencies.

Briar Cliff University is a Catholic institution with an enrollment of more than 1,100 students from 26 states and five countries.  Students are educated in the Franciscan tradition of excellence in the liberal arts and career preparation in an environment of care and compassion.
