BCU Conducts 22nd Annual Pre-All-State Choral Music Camp
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff University is
conducting the 22nd Annual Pre-All-State Choral Music
Camp for 260 high school students, Aug. 3-6, on the BCU campus.
The intensive three-day choral music camp prepares students for
the 2008 Iowa All-State Chorus auditions.
Serving as musical director for the
Pre-All-State Choral Music Camp is Dr. Sean Burton, assistant
professor of music and director of choral activities at Briar
Cliff University, with Dr. Mary Day, O.S.F., as the camp’s
coordinator.
Assisting with the camp are Jean Busker,
director of choral activities at WIT; and five Briar Cliff
alumni -- Jake Delfs, assistant director of choral activities at
Bishop Heelan High School, Sioux City; John Flanery, assistant
director of choral activities, University of Southern
Mississippi, Hattiesburg, Miss.; Brian Johnson, director of
choral activities, Lewis Central High School, Council Bluffs,
Iowa; Jayne Koch, director of music at First Lutheran Church,
Sioux City; and Christopher Miller, assistant director of choral
activities, Sioux City West High School.
High schools represented at the camp are
Gehlen Catholic, Hinton Community, Hull Western Christian,
Lawton-Bronson, LeMars Community, Lewis Central, Council Bluffs,
Maple-Valley, Anthon-Oto, Marcus-Meridan-Cleghorn, Remsen, St.
Mary’s, Rock Valley, Sheldon Community, Sibley-Ocheydan, Sgt.
Bluff-Luton, Sioux Center, Bishop Heelan High School, Sioux City
East, Sioux City North, Sioux City West, Spencer Community,
Unity Christian, West Monona, and Westwood Community.
On August 6, the camp will conclude with a
7:30 p.m. concert at the Cathedral of the Epiphany. The concert
is free and open to the public.
