Briar Cliff University to Offer Online B.S.N. Courses

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff University’s Registered Nurse (R.N.) to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) courses will be offered online beginning this fall. The online courses are designed for registered nurses pursuing a B.S.N.

“With our online courses, registered nurses will have more flexibility in continuing their education,” said Richard A. Petersen, Ed.D., M.S.N., R.N., associate professor of nursing and chairperson of the nursing department. “We have flexible acceptance of transfer credits and start dates and individualized part-time and full-time plans of study.”

The university’s B.S.N. program, which is fully accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), also has the Basic B.S.N. which is a four-year program for students who want to become registered nurses with a bachelor’s degree. A third option is the Licensed Practical Nurse (L.P.N.) to B.S.N. program for nurses who hold L.P.N. degrees, have active licenses and want to pursue a B.S.N.

In addition, BCU offers the Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.) program with Nurse Educator and Family Nurse Practitioner (F.N.P.) specialty tracks.  The specialty tracks prepare nurses to teach in an academic setting or practice in a clinical setting.

The university is currently admitting a new cohort of M.S.N. students in fall 2008. For more information on BCU’s nursing programs, contact the Department of Admissions at 279-5200 or email admissions@briarcliff.edu.
