Briar Cliff's SIFE Team Hosts PYLOT Leadership Camp
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff University’s
Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team will host Camp PYLOT
(Preparing Young Leaders of Tomorrow) from June 16-18 for all
students from fifth to eighth grades who wish to develop and
practice their leadership skills.
This year’s camp, Flying to New Heights,
offers workshops to help develop character, leadership,
communication, integrity, self worth, community leadership,
ethical decision making and teamwork. The camp is divided into
three-day sessions, each from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. The first session,
Taking off to New Heights, helps students understand and
practice leadership through teamwork. The second session, Flying
Higher, focuses on teaching students new skills in the areas of
negotiation, conflict resolution, money management and
communication. The final session, Soaring Above the Rest,
includes inspirational talks from community leaders, discussions
on ethical leadership and field trips to local businesses.
“This camp gives students the opportunity to
learn how to become successful, contributing individuals,” said
Marilyn Eastman, assistant professor of business administration
and SIFE faculty advisor. “The values each workshop offers will
help on every level of student development.”
Tuition for the three-day camp is $120. This
includes a Camp PYLOT T-shirt, workshops, prizes, lunch, snacks
and a field trip. Cancellations will be refunded 50 percent of
total camp fee.
