BCU's SHRM Student
Chapter Earns Superior Merit Award
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff University’s
Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) Student Chapter has
earned the Superior Merit Award in the 2007–2008 Student Chapter
Merit Award competition.
The Student Chapter Merit Award Program is designed to
develop more effective student chapters and to promote
outstanding activities and projects by student chapters in four
categories: basic student chapter requirements, chapter
programming and professional development of members and support
of the human resource profession and partnership with SHRM.
Among the activities BCU’s SHRM Student Chapter submitted for
the competition were writing letters to state legislators
concerning the Americans with Disabilities Act; inviting guest
speakers to campus to discuss HR issues; visiting organizations
and speaking with HR representatives, attending the Siouxland
Professional SHRM meetings; promoting our HR internship and
mentoring programs; job shadowing HR professionals; holding
regular meetings; maintaining a website.

(HR) management association, which serves as the global voice of
the HR profession.
