BCU Students, Alumni Receive
“Champions of Character” Awards
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff University
honored students, alumni and fans at the “Champions of
Character” recognition banquet Sunday, May 4, 2008, in the Stark
Student Center on campus.
At the event, BCU students and alumni were
recognized for representing the Champions of Character values of
respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership and
sportsmanship.
Champions of Character Female Athlete Awards
went to Kayla Boyd and Emily Dvorak while the Male Athlete Award
was given to Neil Rohe. Kristina Ruhlman received the Champions
of Character Female Fan Award, while Male Fan Award went to
Dennis Klein. BCU alumni Chabree Batt ’07 received the
Champions of Character Adult Fan Award.
Students named All-America Scholar Athletes
were: Jill Becker, Kayla Boyd, Michael Brauer, Emily Dvorak,
Amber Estochen, Sara Friedrichsen, Jillian Gunnels, Jenna
Johnston, Samantha Kube, Ashley Loos, Katie Meyerhoff, Destiny
Miller, Shawn Pearson, Jamee Phipps, Luke Roder, Neil Rohe,
Kristina Ruhlman, Anna Shook, Juan Vasquez and Kurt Webb.
Neil Rohe and William Goodenkauf received
All-American Honorable Mention awards.
This is the eighth year that Briar Cliff
University has participated in Champions of Character. Sponsored
by the NAIA, the goal of the program is to create an environment
in which every student-athlete, coach, official and spectator is
committed to the true spirit of competition through the five
core values. All Briar Cliff athletes, coaches,
cheerleaders, dance squad members, and athletic administrators
signed pledges to uphold and model these values.
