BCU’s Todd Knealing Publishes Article
on Substance Abuse Treatment
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff University’s
Todd Knealing, assistant professor of psychology, recently
published an article titled “Economic Cost of the Therapeutic
Workplace Intervention Added to Methadone Maintenance” in the
Journal of Substance Abuse
Treatment (JSAT).
Knealing, along with three co-authors from
Johns Hopkins University, implemented the idea of a “therapeutic
workplace” in which individuals would use paid training and
employment, along with standard methadone treatments, to help
abstain from substance abuse.
“Because this method costs less, it may be
useful to policy makers, social service agencies, and
researchers interested in using or further developing the
therapeutic workplace intervention,” Knealing said.
JSAT features original reviews, training and
educational articles, special commentary, and research articles
that are meaningful to the treatment of alcohol, heroin,
marijuana and other drugs of dependence.
