BCU’s Vickie Britson Publishes Article
in Nursing Science Journal
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff University
assistant professor of nursing Vickie Britson, M.S., A.R.N.P.,
B.C., has an article published in
Nursing Science Quarterly,
April 2008. In the article titled “The Simplest Things,” Britson
covers her experience volunteering in a free medical clinic in
Biloxi, Miss., where healthcare needs of the underserved are
addressed in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
In the article, Britson describes the
creation of new opportunities for teaching-learning from a
“human becoming” perspective in BCU’s undergraduate nursing
program. As a part of the university’s program, 16 senior
nursing students recently traveled to Biloxi to gain additional
clinical nursing experience.
Nursing Science Quarterly is a professional journal of
nursing theory, research and practice, devoted exclusively to
the enhancement of nursing knowledge.
Britson holds a nursing diploma from St.
Luke’s School of Nursing in Sioux City; a bachelor of science in
nursing from Briar Cliff; and master of science in nursing from
South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D. Currently, she
is working on her doctoral dissertation for a doctorate in
nursing science from South Dakota State.
