BCU To Host “Social Work Ethics
and
Substance Abuse” Workshop
SIOUX CITY, Iowa –Briar
Cliff University’s Department of Social Work will host “Social
Work Ethics and Substance Abuse” at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20 in the
Stark Student Center on campus.
The ethics workshop for social workers will
feature Mark Smith, ACSW, LISW, CADC, director of special
projects at the substance abuse treatment unit of Central Iowa
(SATUCI). Smith will discuss the internal and external
influences of ethical decision-making and ethical principles
involved in social work and substance abuse counseling.
“This workshop will help participants improve
their abilities to identify ethical principles,” said Sylvia
Kuennen, MSW, LISW, professor of social work. “It is important
for social work professionals to be able to deal with
conflicting and competing values in decision-making.”
